Compassion: Often, I have been told that I am a compassionate and
emphatic person. I really want the best for my friends, family and individuals
I come into contact with. I feel for animals, kids, the elderly and most people
in general. I believe all people regardless of who, what or where they are from
deserve to be treated respectfully regardless of what their situation may be.
Individuals are responsible for their own actions and should be held
accountable, however we do need to be humane to the fellow occupants of this
earth.
Honest / Ethical:
I try my best to always be honest and ethical. I believe that my words
and actions should be in complete agreement at all times. Individuals who
present themselves in an honest light yet behave in unethical ways behind
closed doors are untrustworthy and often dangerous on many levels. I have
worked in the financial / mortgage industry for over twenty years; I am happy
to say most individuals I have had dealings with are mostly honest and ethical
individuals. However, I have worked with and had clients who were not honest in
their business practices and seem to feel their livelihood gives them license
to bend the rules by omitting pertinent information or telling “Little White
Lies” as acceptable and even expected. It makes me wonder when it became
acceptable to justify being purposely deceptive with a cute excuse of using a
“Little White Lie” as if there is something endearing about lying.
Kind: This is obvious, be kind to all you meet regardless
if they are old, young, human or other. Use your mother’s advise…. just be nice
and if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all, unlike Clairee
in Steele Magnolias who says "Well, you know what they say: if you don't
have anything nice to say about anybody, come sit by me!"
Love: I love my family and dear friends so very much. I
believe that your friends are your chosen family which makes showing them love
and friendship easy. But offering love to strangers is not comfortable or easy.
I really do care for those around me, which is one of the reasons I want to be a
nurse.
Sincere concern and
desire to help others: I desire to help people and make a
difference. My previous career as a mortgage processor / loan officer helped
people to get into homes, but it really wasn’t a job to feel that anything I
did made a difference. My choice to be a nurse I think will satisfy my desire
and need to help others.
Trustworthy: I am a
very trustworthy person. I feel a great responsibility to be respectful of the
privacy of others. The private information shared with me in confidence needs
to remain just that, confidential as it is not my story or information to
share.
Strong work ethic: I am a
hard worker and take pride in the work I do. I expect the best possible results
of myself and strive to satisfy my employer, clients, coworkers and of course
most importantly, myself. My work ethic encompasses so much of who I am and I
desire to not only do the basic job and duties I was hired for, but to look at
what is going on around me and assist where needed. I cannot just sit and do
nothing while my employer is paying me.
Calm in an Emergency: Being calm in an emergency, or at least the
emergencies I have experienced to date, is something I have a knack for. I seem
to be able to act, focus and control emergency situations. I have hopes that
this will be a benefit to my future career.
Proactive: Being proactive and having the ability to seek out
what is needed in a given situation and act to get it taken care of is
something I feel is a strength that benefits those around me. I often frustrate
other coworkers as I am unable to just sit and wait for either a client or
someone to come and give me an assignment. I expect hard work from myself and
others as well. I often end up in a position where I need to direct others to
accomplish certain tasks that are things that need to be done. My “motto” if
you will is that there is always something that needs doing, it may not be what
one wants to do, needs doing none the less.
